Our awesome family photographer asked me to check out some areas where it’s known that the Blue Lupine wildflowers bloom like crazy and in doing so we ended up on a great hike that I thought was going to kill me. She really wants to get a session in up there for anyone who will agree to it, so I happily went in search of the area she had in mind that is supposed to fill with color pretty soon. I can’t believe I work two minutes from the trail-head and have never been. I want to make it a Friday tradition.
Little did we realize we passed the specific area, a whole one minute into the hike, since I assumed they were at the top. Turns out they aren’t really in full bloom yet. I am ridiculously out of shape but set a goal to hit the top, so even though I had to stop 17,000 times give or take, I made it and felt reenergized once we peaked. I also didn’t prepare and had on stupid shoes and a great blister by the time we headed down. But so worth it. Juniper did so great, she knocked out for the hard stuff and woke for the view. Go figure.
We also rewarded ourselves by stopping at Smoke on the way home to dig on some BBQ.
